Following the dialogue, sources said, New Delhi and Beijing have chose to push for the enforcement of bilateral border agreements "more seriously" even as they aim for complete disengagement in Ladakh.
Gogra and Hot Springs are among the key friction points where the two armies were in an eyeball-to-eyeball situation for the last eight weeks. Each side moved back by two kilometres and a buffer zone has been established to keep them away from each other. During their last meet in December 2019, they chose to be "frank to each other" on issues irrespective of the public rhetoric on either side, as reported by The Indian Express.
Neither side will approach the disputed patrol points to avoid a repeat of the June 15 incident as trust levels between both sides are low. Fresh structures to house soldiers on the Chinese side will indicate the People's Liberation Army is not moving back to their garrisons located far away, the official added.
Following the verification process, the Indian side will also move back an equal distance from these flashpoints, according to sources in the Indian Army. "The two Armies are likely to hold further talks after the disengagement process is completed", the sources further stated.
At least three rounds of Corps Commander talks were held between the two in an attempt to de-escalate tension in eastern Ladakh and finalise modalities for disengagement of troops from the sensitive region. A press release by India's Ministry of External Affairs said it was agreed during the call on Sunday that "it was necessary to ensure at the earliest complete disengagement of the troops along the LAC (Line of Actual Control) and de-escalation from India-China border areas for full restoration of peace and tranquillity".
