Tuesday's coronavirus cases were spread throughout the state - with 88 in Bernalillo County in central New Mexico; 34 in San Juan County in the northwest; and 24 in Doña Ana County, adjacent to Texas and Mexico.

The number of people in hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the county fell by five, to 69, the health department said.

There are now 85 total deaths linked to COVID-19 while 26 are being hospitalized.

Statewide, there are 12,925 available hospital beds and 1,148 ICU beds available.

The eight new cases mark the largest single-day increases in the county since May 18. However, the percentage of positive results has been climbing, with an average of 11.6% of those getting tested turning out to have the virus over a recent seven-day period. The total number of positive coronavirus tests in the state is now 277,774.

There are two additional cases that HCEM is working to confirm correct addresses on in order to confirm they are Hopkins County residents.

The Health Department also reports that hospitalizations of people with COVID-19-related illnesses continues to grow. The high number of cases is due, in part, to a backlog of about 2,000 test results received from one lab that just submitted lab results from July 2-5 today. California has seen 94,701 new cases since July 23.

Denton County reported 65 new cases Tuesday, Grayson County had 15 new cases, Fannin County had 10 new cases, and Cooke County has seven new cases.
