Virus patient dies after attending Covid-19 "hoax" party

Appleby told news organizations that the patient, who has not been named, had attended a so-called COVID party prior to contracting coronavirus.

DALLAS-A 30-something patient has died from the coronavirus after reportedly attending a "COVID party" and ultimately telling their nurse they had acted in error, San Antonio's WOAI-TV reported.

"This is a party held by somebody diagnosed by the COVID virus and the thought is to see if the virus is real and to see if anyone gets infected", Dr. Jane Appleby, chief medical officer for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children's Hospital, told News4 reporters.

His last words to the nurse at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio Texas were: "I think I made a mistake".

She then added that the patient's condition deteriorated until they were critically ill, before they came out with a heartbreaking change of heart in the moments before their death.

Appleby also told KSAT that, 'He didn't really believe.

Dr Appleby said she was sharing the story to raise awareness about COVID-19 as Bexar County, where the hospital is, has seen a spike in cases recently.

"Wear your mask", Appleby said.

Appleby says some young patients don't know how sick they are.

"This is just one example of a potentially avoidable death in a young member of our community", she said.

"My plea to our community and especially all of our young folks in the community is to take it seriously".

San Antonio recorded 923 new infections on Friday.

The US now has more than 134,000 coronavirus-related deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
