A few hours later, Twitter temporarily blocked the Trump campaign from tweeting from its account until it removed a post with the same video. Instead, as the Washington Post now reports, it was the account of the Trump team, @TeamTrump, that was temporarily banned.
The Republican president continued to press for U.S. schools to reopen in an overnight Twitter post, and defended his administration's response to the virus in an interview with the Axios news website released late on Monday.
"The death rate is lower, I admit that, because people in general who are young are healthier", Fauci said July 8.
Trump also reiterated the false claim that virus cases are on the rise in the USA exclusively because the country is doing more testing than any other country. And they don't have a problem.
In the removed video, Trump was heard speaking in a phone interview with Fox News in which he argued schools across the nation should be re-opening. "The account owner will be required to remove the tweet before they can tweet again", Twitter spokesperson Trenton Kennedy said. Trump previously cancelled holding the convention in Jacksonville, Florida for the same reason, especially as the state experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Tim Murtaugh, Director of Communications for the President's 2020 re-election campaign, blasted Twitter's move.
"Silicon Valley is hopelessly biased against the President and only enforces the rules in one direction".
Thea McDonald, deputy national press secretary for the Trump campaign, said in a statement that what most states called absentee voting had always been termed "vote-by-mail" in Florida.
