The Toronto Raptors on Thursday forced a Game 7 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals of the National Basketball Association playoffs after Kyle Lowry led his side to double-overtime victory at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Six-time NBA All-Star Lowry also notched up the game-winning fadeaway jumper to guide Raptors to victory in a Double-OT Game 6 thriller. Lowry answered with a pair from deep, and the Raptors led 94-89 with 6:20 remaining. It became his second ejection of the season and his first of the playoffs.
Serge Ibaka had 18 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting and Fred VanVleet finished with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists.
The Clippers could reach the Western Conference finals for the first time.
Toronto and Denver came back with strong rebuttals.
The Raptors had looked down and out trailing their Eastern Conference semi-final 2-0, with Boston half a second away from taking a 3-0 lead on Thursday before OG Anunoby sunk a last-gasp three-pointer.
But it's not been without its troubles, either.
When Lou Williams made a driving layup with 2:04 remaining, the Clippers held a 109-103 advantage, their largest of the game to that point.
Lowry's been a Raptor long enough to experience the highest of highs, and lowest of lows.
Lowry played the entire second half again, the third time that happened in the past four Toronto games, while Pascal Siakam played a whopping 54 minutes.
And though they're an underdog by the betting markets in their own "home" game on Friday night, it's hard to count out a group of scrappy players with as much experience in high-pressure situations as any team left.
"That was two hard teams playing hard".
Ivica Zubac had 11 points and nine rebounds, Marcus Morris Sr. also scored 11 points, and Paul George had 10 for the Clippers.
If the rest of the series is any indication, the Raptors won't be able to blow out Boston. Siakam laboured through the entire fourth quarter and overtime, going 5-for-19 for 12 points (including 0-for-5 from deep) when Toronto desperately needed a bucket.
The exercises have special meaning for China-Russia ties "at this important moment when the whole world is fighting the pandemic", the ministry said.
The Miami Heat are up three games to one over the Milwaukee Bucks, which some would consider a big surprise, but Jimmy Butler and his team have proven they want to be the champs.
