In the "fake" tweets, Max allegedly wrote that Lovato's former best friend Selena Gomez, 28, was "prettier" and more vocally gifted that her.
The "Skyscraper" singer made this clear when she took to her Instagram Stories last night (September 13) to remind fans that there are more important matters at hand than indulging in "fake" drama.
"It's really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other".
Demi Lovato is opening up about her future wedding to fiance Max Ehrich! Demi exploded against the accusations, believing that 2020 has been a hard year and people should focus on more important issues. I challenge any tabloid that dares to type my name to mention Breonna Taylor and the face that her murderers still haven't been arrested. After sharing a photo with her man, she joked about "ignoring her double chin" but Max remarked that he "loves every part" of her. Demi recently penned an essay for Vogue about her year of growth and how she's learning to love herself.
In one tweet, Max reportedly said: "I'm going to marry Selena Gomez". She's just like, she's an angel, and I love her, but on top of that, I respect her musically and I want to make music with her.
Lovato and Gomez were friends since childhood, when they appeared on Barney together and later found fame on Disney Channel.
He continued, "but yeah, I think Selena Gomez is an extraordinary woman".
And an old Twitter post has him professing that all he "wanted for Christmas was Demi Lovato". "I understand and have compassion for those who are so horrified at the reality of 2020 that they gotta distract themselves with doctored images in order to not focus on how bad these times are", Lovato added.
He started, "I think she's an extremely, extremely talented girl, and I've had a major crush on her since 2010". On the other hand, although the images may have been manipulated, a video of a live broadcast that Max made on her Instagram account circulates and talks about Selena. After all, they got engaged after dating for less than five months. "But I'm not friends with her, so it felt...", Lovato told Harper's Bazaar in an interview published in April 2020. I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best, ' she explained.
