The Halifax County Health Department today reported the 18th death related to COVID-19.
A total of 5,797 people who tested positive have now recovered. That's down from eight patients on Wednesday.
There are 196 to 200 cases in Sycamore; 156 to 160 in Sandwich; 116 to 120 cases in Genoa; 66 to 70 cases in Cortland; 26 to 30 in Kingston and Hinckley; 21 to 25 cases in Kirkland and Malta; 16 to 20 in Somonauk; 11 to 15 in Waterman; and six to 10 in Shabbona and Maple Park.
The Laurel County Health Department also reported Friday that 28 COVID-19 cases had recovered.
Children under two years of age should not wear a face covering.
Whitley County has had a total of 282 COVID-19 cases. DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center remained at six cases in staff and one among residents. It fell to one from three on Thursday, but was back up to two on Friday.
Though no community outbreaks were announced, health officials are encouraging British Columbians to check the BCCDC website or their local health authority webpage to see if any exposure events have occurred in their community.
Elsewhere in the province, the Interior Health region has reported 492 cases while the Northern Health region has confirmed 244.
According to county data, the city of DeKalb reports between 746 to 750 cases.
Three more deaths were recorded, bringing the provincial death toll up to 223.
"The choices we make are going to determine how many people we lose going forward", said Beshear. "We are also reporting 40 historic cases that were tested between August 11 and September 16 for people who did not have personal health numbers", says a statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
