Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh continue to remain the worst affected states from coronavirus pandemic.
Ludhiana: 12 persons, 5 from Ludhiana district, died of Covid-19 at various hospitals of the state even as 244 persons from the district tested positive for the disease on Sunday.
The tally includes 10,17,754 active cases, 41,12,551 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 84,372 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- China on Friday reported that imported coronavirus cases surged to 32 over the previous 24 hours.
"Recovered cases of coronavirus infection are 4.04 times the number of active cases as recoveries outnumber the latter by 30,94,797", it highlighted.
With almost 100,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the total coronavirus infections in the country rose over 5.2 million on Friday.
Held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, these sessions have played a major role in the country's substantial COVID-19 recovery rate and declining case fertility rate, the ministry said.
India also scaled yet another peak with over 12 lakh samples being tested in the past 24 hours, informed the ministry. As many as 42,08,431 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far. The total number of people infected with the virus rose to 1,08,494, it said.
There were 1,247 deaths in a day as 53,08,014 cases were registered with India remaining just behind the USA, which it has overtaken in terms of recoveries.
According to the health ministry on Friday, the countrys case fatality rate (CFR) was at 1.62 per cent. The US has reported 2,03,171 COVID-19 deaths whereas Brazil has reported a total of 1,35,857 COVID-19 deaths as of now. "Any vaccine will come by mid-next year, anywhere in the world, if everything goes as planned", he added.
