" Apart from that, reemphasizing the requirements of a flawless safety blanket for the USA nationals, Trump said to the reporters late on Monday before departing the White House, "If we can save (TikTok), we will save it, and if we can't we will cut it off".
"That's working its way through". Oracle will own a 12.5 per cent stake in the new company, while Walmart will take a 7.5 per cent stake. (Oracle CEO) Larry Ellison is a great genius at that kind of thing. The technology is incredible. But they have (a) preliminary (deal).
That vow, repeated by the president on Saturday at a campaign rally in North Carolina, was part of a concession that dealmakers offered to convince Trump to green-light a transaction in which a new board comprised of USA citizens would oversee a new US-based company and co-owned by Oracle Corp and Walmart Inc.
He insisted that if they do not have total control then " we are not going to approve the deal".
"From a security and infrastructure perspective, they're going to have to hire a few thousand alone to focus on that issue...given the sensitivity", he said.
The main concern of the Trump administration is the technology behind the TikTok. "It's hard for us to believe that Beijing will approve such an agreement", the editorial read, echoing posts written on Twitter that same evening by the newspaper's editor-in-chief Hu Xijin (胡錫進).
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that the USA is working through the deal.
"But rest assured... that this president is putting the safety of the American people first".
Under the new deal, TikTok will be stored on the Oracle Cloud, and user data will be stored there.
ByteDance revealed to CGTN last week that the TikTok deal needs approval from both China and USA authorities. Further, TikTok will give United States dollars 5 billion to fund the education of American youths.
He said: "They will have nothing to do with it, and if they do, we just won't make the deal".
On Friday, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced an order to delay TikTok's U.S. app store ban by a week until September 27.
TikTok, which has never been available in China, has said that it has more than 100 million monthly active US users, compared with 600 million daily users on its equivalent Chinese app Douyin (抖音). It's given justification for China to mess with American companies in the same way, and push to expose more data to the Chinese government.
