Christie, 58, has become the latest person from the United States president's inner circle to test positive for Covid-19.
"In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon", Christie announced in a tweet on Saturday afternoon. Christie helped Trump prepare for his presidential debate against former Vice President Joe Biden earlier this week, and he also attended Judge Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination ceremony at the White House last Saturday.
Christie attended a September 26 White House event, during which President Donald Trump officially announced his Supreme Court nominee, making the former governor now the eighth known person who was at the Rose Garden ceremony to test positive.
Gov. Phil Murphy reacted to Christie's announcement by wishing him a "full and speedy recovery". Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), former White House advisor Kellyanne Conway, University of Notre Dame President Rev. John Jenkins, and a White House journalist-in addition to Christie-are confirmed to be infected with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.
A number of top Republicans have also tested positive since Trump's diagnosis, including Sen.

He said he wa "feeling good" and only has "mild symptoms".
Christie, a paid analyst for ABC News, appeared on a post-debate roundtable Tuesday night.
Trump was taken to Walter Reed medical center on Friday and will remain there for a few days, CNN reports. Trump received a positive coronavirus test result hours after, he revealed in a tweet early Friday morning.
Christie said he had gotten a COVID-19 test on Tuesday that was negative and was tested again on Friday morning, the results of which came back positive. Many attendees tested positive for COVID-19.
