Thackeray directed the suburban railways to coordinate with the railway administration for immediate relief to the affected passengers and told the Ministry's control room and fire brigade to be vigilant and provide immediate help to prevent any other accidents due to power outages. A government official in Mumbai said other power suppliers such as Adani Power Ltd and Tata Power had also been affected by the outage. According to preliminary information, the electric supply of the entire western region is tripped and will take at least 2 hours to restore.
To add to the Monday morning blues of Mumbaikars, the city faced a massive power outage due to grid failure on Monday.Several people woke up to no power, halting trains, businesses, children's online classes.
Sources in power behemoth NTPC said that there is no problem with power generations in Maharashtra but power transmission and distribution has been affected. Services of Western Railways' local trains between Churchgate and Vasai have also been impacted. Such a disruption in the financial capital was unprecedented, according to reports.
Energy Minister Raut in a video message and tweets said the power failure problem is being addressed on a "war- level", and added that it will be restored in approximately an hour. "As per grid safety protocols, Adani Power System has been able to sustain and islanded", tweeted Adani Electricity.
The outage, which was first reported at 10:05 am, was initially expected to have been resolved in an hour. Akshay and Paresh Rawal's film Hera Pheri also inspired several hilarious memes related to power cuts and many users felt relatable to them.
"There is multiple tripping of lines and transformer (Kalwa-Padghe and Khargar ICTs) supplying power to Mumbai system". Mumbai's global airport also stated that the operations are normal.
"Restoration work is in progress to bring supply from the 3 Hydro units and Trombay units once the MSETCL (Maharashtra state electric transmission company) transmission lines are connected", the Tata Power statement said.
After a few hard minutes, the employees were safely evacuated, as per a video doing rounds on social media.
Meanwhile, the CM also instructed municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal to ensure that the alternative arrangements for the power supply to the hospitals remain uninterrupted.
