Going into the final stretch before Election Day, President Donald Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee have outraised former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign and the Democratic National Committee by $140 million, according to data collected by NPR.
Biden, who has stepped off the campaign trail for several days in favor of debate prep, expected Trump to get intensely personal.
Biden and Trump argued over their tax returns.
No evidence has emerged to link Biden to any improper behavior, and the only result has been Trump's impeachment a year ago by the House of Representatives for pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Biden.
Biden added: "He says we're, you know, we're learning to live with it. People are learning to die with it".
For Trump, the matchup at Tennessee's Belmont University was perhaps the final opportunity to change the dynamics of a race dominated, much to his chagrin, by his response to the pandemic and its economic fallout.
As the debate swept to climate change, Trump explained his decision to pull the USA out of the Paris climate accord negotiated in 2015, declaring it was an unfair pact that would have cost the country trillions of dollars and hurt businesses.
Perhaps sensing that the comment could soon appear in Trump campaign ads, Biden did a little clean-up boarding his plane after the debate, declaring "We're not going to ban fossil fuels". Biden, meanwhile, argued that Trump was an incompetent leader of a country facing multiple crises and tried to connect what he saw as the president's failures to the everyday lives of Americans, especially when it comes to the pandemic. But Biden again called on Trump to release proof.
Trump sought to portray Biden as being corruptly involved with his son Hunter's business dealings in Ukraine and China, but he struggled to shape accusations that have circulated in conservative media into a coherent case.
Turning to foreign policy, Biden accused Trump of dealing with a "thug" while holding summits with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un. Held by Trump International Hotels Management LLC, the account was used to pay $188,561 in taxes in China from 2013 to 2015 while the Trump Organization pursued hotel deals.

With about two weeks to go before the November 3 election, Biden had $162 million in the bank, compared to about $44 million in cash held by the Trump campaign. A record 47 million Americans already have cast ballots, eclipsing total early voting from the 2016 election.
