Lautner played Sharkboy alongside Taylor Dooley, who will reprise her role as Lavagirl.
The fan-favorite characters from the 2005 family movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl will return - as parents - in director Robert Rodriguez's new Netflix movie, We Can Be Heroes, which focuses on the kids of superheroes. Someone else was quick to make up her/his mind as declaring, "If Taylor Lautner isn't in the Sharkboy and Lavagirl spinoff I don't want to see it".
Sharkboy and Lavagirl return in first-look photos of "We Can Be Heroes", but fans are not pleased.
Set in the Sharkboy and Lavagirl universe, We Can Be Heroes follows the story of the Heroics, a superhero team that's kidnapped by alien invaders.
We Can Be Heroes will be available to stream on Netflix from January 1, 2021. "I've been getting calls from all kinds of studios: 'Reboot Spy Kids.' 'Reboot Sharkboy.' Of course they want to". However, their spirits were quickly crushed when they learned actor Taylor Lautner wouldn't appear in the film. Rodriguez was always aiming for these movies to be fun for little kids with the younger ones taking more of a starring role rather than be well put-together and acted cinematic blockbusters and this film looks no different.
In response to the news, one fan wrote, "WHO'S THAT SHARKBOY IMPOSTER WHERE IS TAYLOR LAUTNER".
We Can be Heroes won't mark the first time Netflix audiences are seeing her on-screen...
