Olivier Giroud who plays as a striker for Premier League giants Chelsea has admitted that he is ready to leave the Stamford Bridge landlords due to lack of active playing time.
After its high-flying start to the season, Aston Villa looks increasingly earthbound.
However, this has not materialised, and Giroud now finds himself limited to substitute cameos, playing just 36 Premier League minutes so far this season.
But the summer signing of Timo Werner has pushed him further down the pecking order.
But Lampard said: "I think we have a huge fanbase and the social media world has changed the way people critique football and it's easy for someone to sit on a phone and make harsh statements". I know that the focus is on the pitch. We have discussed it again.
He told reporters: "I have always believed in myself, so I told myself I've got to get back in that team, work hard every day and improve". I have always done that of course.
Chelsea are now placed on the third spot on the Premier League table with 18 points from nine games, only behind Liverpool and table toppers Tottenham.
"In some parts I think it got forgotten how good he was the first half of last season, he was a big reason for us finishing fourth".
"I have a very good relationship with Oli and if ever he felt that it was going to go a different way then I would happily have that conversation with him but I want him to stay here and we will be very open, both ways, if that ever changed but at the moment he is very important to me".
"I thought I could still help the team".
'I am clear-headed about my situation: I will have to make a decision in January.
"I have a lot of desire and freshness and it's what inside your head that makes a career last longer".
Giroud, who became a father for the fourth time last week, described global duty "a breath of fresh air". In the latest worldwide break, the forward bagged a brace against Sweden in the UEFA Nations League, taking him just seven goals short of Thierry Henry's record for the French national team. He is very happy for me.
"But I want him to stay here". He presses as well as any midfield player I've worked with or played alongside. "We can only worry about ourselves and our recent form has meant we're in a decent position but doing that consistently over a big period is the next step for us now", Lampard added.
"The important thing is to be competitive and help the team reach its objectives".
