B.C. reports 16 more COVID-19 deaths, adds 656 new cases

The majority of new cases are in the Fraser Health region, followed by Vancouver Coastal Health.
According to state data from Tuesday, 1704 people are hospitalized in Minnesota for COVID-19.
The county is now reporting 112 confirmed or suspect deaths associated with COVID-19, with 12 of that total classified as suspect deaths.
Previously, Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health announced that 25 people - seven residents between the ages of 65 and 74, five residents between the ages of 75 and 84 and 13 residents age 85 or older - had died from COVID-19 or with the virus as a contributing factor in their deaths.
The statement says there are 8,796 active cases in the province and another 10,123 people exposed to known cases are under active public health monitoring. After many months of restrictions on who we can see, where we can go and what we can do, we are all feeling the fatigue.
Dix added the province would provide as much information as possible to people in order to engage, educate, and involve them "in those important decision". "We need to stop right now to protect our communities and our families and our health care workers".
As talk of a COVID-19 vaccine intensifies around the world, B.C.'s top doctor is making it clear she does "not expect" immunization will be mandatory in the province.
Dr. Henry has called for British Columbians to avoid unnecessary travel, and also said indoor sports are now risky.

These new guidelines will be available next week and will require some changes to COVID-19 safety plans. If you are planning to travel around your county, consider first whether it is absolutely necessary to travel.
However, child and youth programs and sport are still permitted.
Henry was also asked if further enforcement around this rule should be taking place - particularly at BC Ferries terminals - and whether measures such as travel checkpoints at the terminals should be implemented.
