Eligible claimants that certify claims on Sunday, Jan. 9 for the week ending Jan. 8 will also have their claims processed, including the $300 plus-up, and receive payment midweek.
L&I is still awaiting additional information from the federal DOL on the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) programs.
"Thanks to these efforts, Americans in need are receiving an important increase in assistance to help provide for themselves and their families", said Assistant Secretary John Pallasch.
FPUC allows states to provide an additional $600 per week benefit to individuals who are collecting regular Unemployment Compensation [including Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE) and Unemployment Compensation for Ex-Servicemembers (UCX)].
Among the major changes that the state still needs to implement is reopening the claims of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) applicants who have exhausted the allotment of benefits to which they are entitled, adding additional weekly benefits and the $300 payment for each qualifying week.
"We were among the first states to distribute the earlier federal supplemental payments to workers after the passage of the CARES Act in April, and are equally proud to get this new federal relief out the door quickly", said Labor Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo. Payments will be made retroactively to eligible claimants who requested payment for the week beginning December 27, 2020.
Anyone who had exhausted PEUC prior to December 26, 2020 and went on SEB will stay on SEB.
Officials with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment said Thursday they believe numerous 41,439 regular unemployment claims filed the week after Christmas were fraudulent. If the claim has an appeal pending, and is determined to be eligible, the person will receive all benefits for all eligible weeks. This function will be available in the PUA system again within the next 5-10 days.

The $300 plus-up is included in the payments for PUA claimants.
Adding new programs to the cloud-based MyUI+ system, Haavind said, is only expected to take a week or two, beginning with the $300 plus-up payments.
PEUC will be available until March 13, 2021, with phase out provisions.
