Saved By the Bell star Dustin Diamond diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer

Dustin's diagnosis was confirmed on his Facebook page on January 14 to update fans about the 44-year-old performer who is best known for playing gawky-but-lovable Samuel "Screech" Powers on Saved by the Bell and several spinoffs. "It's very serious, though we are still waiting for more details, which we will have shortly". "Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made", the statement said.

Another representative of the actor told Entertainment Weekly that Diamond's cancer is in Stage Four and he is now undergoing chemotherapy.

Apparently, Diamond is also now battling shingles.

It's not clear what kind of cancer he has-his people say he'll soon release a more formal statement-but a rep tells Entertainment Weekly that the actor will stay at the hospital for at least another week as he goes through a chemo regimen.

"By next week, we'll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he's comfortable". "We ask everyone to respect Dustin's privacy during this hard time".

Diamond was hospitalised in Florida last weekend after complaining of general pain throughout his body.

Diamond rose to fame for his role as Samuel "Screech" Powers on Good Morning, Miss Bliss, the Disney sitcom that later became Saved By The Bell. They continued: "He was fading in and out, feeling sleepy and exhausted". "Everyone is hoping for a speedy recovery".

His 2009 book "Behind the Bell", in which Diamond shared backstage stories about shooting "Saved by the Bell", stirred controversy. In 2018 he appeared as his "Saved by the Bell" character in the series "Zack Morris Is Trash".
