As you can see in the newly released HBO Max promo below, the two iconic beast are going to war! Earlier, both Warner Bros and Legendary gave us three monster films together: Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Adam Wingard directed "Godzilla vs. Kong", which stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. Director Adam Wingard (Death Note) previously told EW that he wanted viewers to "walk away from this film feeling like, okay, there is a victor".
Many films, as we well remember, were delayed previous year due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
Godzilla vs. Kong is the fourth movie in a series that's revived some of the biggest and most enduring movie monsters of all time. It was earlier set to release on May 21, 2020.
The epic next chapter in the cinematic Monsterverse pits two of the greatest icons in motion picture history against one another - the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong - with humanity caught in the balance.
Godzilla vs. Kong had originally been scheduled for a November 2020 release, before the coronavirus put the kibosh on those plans, but this latest schedule change finally moves it in the right direction for once. The film will also show who is much stronger, Godzilla or King Kong. Legendary was frustrated, in part because Warner Bros. had previously blocked Netflix's $250 million bid to buy the monster movie.
