"Sometimes, they also hurt religious sentiments", he added.
Amazon executive Gaurav Gandhi told Deadline last month that "India is one of the most exciting streaming markets in the world right now and there are many kinds of model".
Full details on the controversy are in our original story below.
A day after apologising for hurting religious sentiments, Tandav director Ali Abbas Zafar has shared another statement stating that the team will be making relevant changes in the series.
"Tandav is a work of fiction and any resemblance to acts and persons and events is purely coincidental".
The apology comes after a local official from India's ruling Hindu nationalist party had registered a police complaint against the web series, claiming it was stirring a potential religious controversy and threatening to launch a protest at the company's office in Mumbai. "I urge the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban Tandav for the meantime", Kotak wrote.
'We once again apologise if the series has unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments, ' the statement issued by the makers of Tandav said. "This platform is free from all censoring authority and in the preview of interest of freedom - sometime they are taking undue advantage".
Sharing the picture of his letter to Javadekar on Twitter, Kotak said as there is no law or autonomous body governing digital content and films on such platforms are full of sex, violence, drugs, abuse, hate and vulgarity. When contacted about the complaints, Amazon Prime Video PR had said the platform "won't be responding" on the matter. Deadline has reached out to Amazon Prime Video India's reps for comment. "Serious charges have been invoked against the team of Tandav, which is spreading hatred disguised as a cheap web series". It was released on Amazon Prime on January 15.
Some Hindu politicians called for the show to be removed and complaints have been filed to the police. The Amazon Prime video show, headlined by Saif Ali Khan, has been at the receiving end of criticism by the leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and others for allegedly mocking Hindu Gods and hurting sentiments of Hindus. "Similarly, in the 22nd minute of the same episode, efforts have been made to ignite caste clashes with casteist remarks".
