The winning numbers were 4-26-42-50-60 with a Mega Ball number of 24.
The jackpot on January 22 is at $970 million, the second-largest prize in the game's history, after there hasn't been a victor in months. A potential victor would take home $739.6 million in cash.
While Wednesday's top prize was the fourth-largest jackpot for Powerball, it was the sixth-largest in U.S. lottery history. One of those - sold in Hagerstown, Maryland - won $2 million because the holder bought a "Power Play" option, lottery officials said.

USA Mega is an online site dedicated to all things lottery, including the financial breakdown of potential jackpot wins. 12 such tickets were sold in California, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, and Oregon.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions grand prize are 1 in 302,575,350.
The figures may be adjusted depending on the value of tickets sold before the drawing.
If the individual takes the $546.8 million lump sum, it will be subjected to a 37 percent federal income tax, which cuts more than $202.2 million from the win. Another 528 tickets matched three numbers + Powerball for a $100 prize. The Power Play for Wednesday's drawing was x3, tripling most smaller prizes won.
Friday's drawing will be at 11 p.m. The Powerball jackpot will be $20 million.
