Stützle practised with the Senators on Friday and indicated that he could return to the lineup against the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night, but that is no longer the case.
Winnipeg has won its last two games, while the Senators are on a three-game (0-2-1) winless streak. The Jets and Senators will face off against each other ten times and while Winnipeg is arguably a much better team than Ottawa, it's hard to expect them to beat the Senators every single time. "I thought that was a strong point and probably one of the only real positives of tonight's game". Matt Murray started between the pipes in each of the first four games, but he's been pulled out last time after yielding four goals on 26 shots. Apparently, it hasn't helped.
Murray made 22 saves in the fist two periods.
"Our team played very well and handled this game very well".
He has one goal in two games this season. The Jets started their season with a win over Calgary before taking a loss to Toronto. The Jets are not expected to be a powerhouse team this year, but they should be in the postseason in the end. The offense was not very good a year ago, and it cost them in the play series against the Flames.
Ehlers, who scored the game-winner on Tuesday, followed up by netting the opening goal on Thursday. "They took it serious and they came after us".
Ehlers and Scheifele added help each.
Winnipeg forward Patrik Laine (upper-body injury) missed his third consecutive game. He is listed as out indefinitely on the injury list. The Jets have only two goals in 20 power-play chances this season. Marcus Hogberg stopped all three shots he faced in the third. Hellebuyck has gone 91-54 with a 2.58 GAA at home in his career and 5-0 with a 2.00 GAA against the Sens. Interestingly, the Jets failed to score on seven power-play opportunities.
Ehlers collaborated on the next goal early in the second period.
