The image of the masked Vermont senator sitting cross-legged in a folding chair, wearing a blustery conditions-appropriate outer coat and THOSE mittens might become the most memorable fashion statement from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's swearing in ceremony, even more so than Lady Gaga's dress.
A photograph of Sanders wearing the oversized mittens has gone viral on social media and inspired a meme fest online!
"What we're doing here in Vermont is, we're going to be selling around the country sweatshirts and T-shirts", Sanders told CNN's Dana Bash on State of the Union on Sunday. "So, it turns out, actually, to be a good thing, and not only a fun thing".

So far, Sanders has been photoshopped in a number of pictures with different backgrounds including historical monuments, movie scenes and famous paintings. "I sent him these mittens kind of as a shoutout to who he is, and I put a note in that said something to the effect of 'I hope you run again'".
When Meyers asked the senator whether he knew about the memes, Sanders responded in the affirmative saying he had "heard" about it.
