Arsenal, Odegaard loan details emerge; Haaland to Real Madrid

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid, Sportsmail understands.

Arsenal will reportedly pay a fee of almost $2.5 million to take Martin Odegaard on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

According to the latest reports, the Real Madrid midfielder spent the whole of Monday at the London Colney where he completed his medical and then went on to meet his new Gunners teammates.

Odegaard will join Dani Ceballos as a midfielder on loan from Real Madrid after the Spain global moved to the north London side for a second successive campaign.

Given the fact Odegaard will arrive and join a new team halfway through the season - let alone the fact he plays the position which requires the most precise timing and an nearly telepathic understanding with his fellow attacking teammates - the 22-year-old Norwegian no. 10 will likely struggle to make a massive impact in just six months at Arsenal. It will be completed in the coming hours and it will be a simple loan for six months.

Mikel Arteta is believed to have personally called the 22-year-old to persuade him to move to the Emirates rather than stay in Spain with Real Sociedad, where he played last season.

Odegaard burst onto the scene as the youngest player to star and score in the Norwegian Premier League and he joined Madrid aged just 16.

Real Madrid signed Odegaard in a £3m deal from Stomsgodset in 2015 after the 17-year-old had impressed for the Norwegian club.

Odegaard has failed to make the breakthrough at Madrid, although successful loan spells with Vitesse Arnhem and Real Sociedad have highlighted his ability.
