Federal investigators included number of images from a video taken during the insurrection, which show a man they identify as Samsel leading a group of rioters toward a police barricade in from of the Capitol, moments before rioters in support of former President Donald Trump breached the building on January 6.
According to the Journal, Jones personally pledged more than US$50,000 in seed money for the rally in exchange for a speaking slot of his choice.
The Journal said the funding from Julie Jenkins Fancelli, a prominent donor to Trump's 2020 campaign, was facilitated by far-right show host Alex Jones.
At the event, Trump repeated baseless claims that he had been defeated in the presidential election due to fraud, and he told his supporters to "fight like hell." .
According to the criminal complaint, Samsel can be seen in videos from the Capitol approaching a reinforced fence being secured by Capitol police officers. It's a populist movement threatening to disrupt the financial system to a degree Occupy Wall Street only dreamed of.
Alam, who was arrested on January 30, has been charged with assaulting a federal officer, obstructing law enforcement engaged in official duties incident to civil disorder, knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
Mr Jones did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a statement, Publix Super Markets said it could not comment on Fancelli's actions. "The deplorable actions that occurred that day do not represent the values, work or opinions of Publix Super Markets".
"The violence at the Capitol on January 6 was a national tragedy", the chain's statement continued.
The Florida-based grocery store chain also made an effort to disavow the violence that ensued after Trump's adherents made the quick trek from The Ellipse, a park just south of the White House lawn, to the national seat of legislative government.
Fancelli, who has a home in Lakeland, also served as president of her father's charity, the George Jenkins Foundation, according to 2019 tax filings.
