More than a million migrants at USA border

Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) criticized the Biden administration over the influx of illegal immigrants at the southern border during a press briefing in McAllen, Texas on Tuesday.

"You had children side-by-side lying on the floor, no beds, cots, lying on the floor, covered up in emergency reflective blankets and 10% of the population there is testing positive for COVID", Cruz said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

The lawmakers' trek to the southern border comes as Biden continues to face pressure over his administration's response to the growing crisis. "It is a humanitarian disaster and crisis and it is manmade".

"This refusal to accept responsibility is startling in light of a news report that suggests the Biden Administration was warned that reversing President Trump's successful immigration policies would lead to a surge at the border".

Roughly an hour and 20 minutes from Roma is the U.S. Customs and Border Protection main detention facility for migrant children in Donna, Texas.

During the tour of the Donna facility, reporters visited an area for young children, who sat inside a playpen, used coloring books and watched a movie. "They are not six feet apart or three feet apart, they're not even six inches apart". This is why the lawmakers are requesting the documents related to the warning.

The video, released by El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez, shows what she said was two smugglers scaling the fence and dropping each child onto the ground and harsh surface, before tossing what appears to be some belongings down after that.

The number of immigrant families apprehended by US agents along the southern border almost tripled in February from a month earlier to about 19,000 people.

During his first official presser, President Biden downplayed the significance of the border issue, saying that "it happens every single solitary year."There is a significant increase in the number of people coming to the border in the winter months of January, February, March", Biden said on Thursday".

He said Mr Trump had responded to a spike in migrant arrivals last summer by telling Mexico, the United States was going to put tariffs on all its products unless it more forcibly enforced the so-called "Remain in Mexico" policy.
