Active cases of COVID-19 also continue to drop.
Fourty-six per cent of all Albertans have now received at least one dose.
Sturgeon County West, the area that includes Morinville, has 43.2 per cent of its population immunized against COVID-19, or 13,108 people.
Dr. Hinshaw provided the COVID-19 numbers update for Thursday, May 20 and the new COVID 19 case numbers in the province today were 812 or a 9.3% positivity rate.
There are now 665 Albertans in the hospital with COVID-19 and 177 of them are in intensive care.
Two additional deaths were confirmed on Friday.
Alberta's chief medical officer of health says the province in making changes to quarantine rules for people who have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Dr. Hinshaw is pleased with the progress that is being made.
"The weather is warming up, the sun is shining and summer is just around the corner", said Hinshaw.
NDP labour critic Christina Gray said Kenney's job creation effort was too-long delayed and too little to make up for the jobs lost before the pandemic.
"We are gaining momentum, but it is fragile and we can not afford to take this (long) weekend off from following the rules", she said.
"That's why I'm asking every Albertan to have fun and stay safe this weekend". She reminded everyone to avoid having in-person contact with people outside their households and to avoid non-essential travel. "The quarantine period for these people with one dose of vaccine is being shortened from 14 days to 10 for close contacts who have no symptoms." .
Those with a first dose will only need to quarantine for 10 days after exposure to someone with COVID-19, as long as the single-dose close contact has no symptoms. If these individuals get tested on day seven or later they can leave isolation upon receiving a negative result.
Albertans who have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccines and are close contacts of positive cases do not have to self-isolate if they do not have any symptoms.
"When we start talking about new jobs, the intent behind the program is to defray the costs associated with hiring, so businesses will hire earlier than they otherwise would to get employees back to work as quickly as possible".
