The race now turns to South Carolina's Democratic primary next Saturday, where Clinton has a strong advantage due to her favorability with African-American voters.
Polls show Clinton has a significant lead in SC, while there are some Super Tuesday states that better match the makeup of the states where Sanders has done best: Iowa, where he battled Clinton to a virtual tie, and New Hampshire, where he won in a 22-point landslide.
Democrats will vote in SC on February 27, where the Republicans are now engaged in a primary election battle.
Hillary Clinton will win Nevada's Democratic caucuses, NBC News projects, scoring a much-needed boost in the nomination race and depriving rival Bernie Sanders of a victory in a racially diverse state.
Clinton still maintains a lead over Sanders in averages of the national polls (even if it has shrunk recently). "This one's for you", Clinton said in Nevada Saturday after her victory was announced. Sanders will pick up at least 14.
Critically, Sanders showed in Nevada that his campaign can reach a different swath of voters. Moreover, about 60 percent of Clinton supporters in Nevada are women.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz banked on a well-regarded get-out-the-vote operation and 10,000 volunteers to help overtake Trump, on Saturday, as well as in the Southern states that follow.
Sanders again trounced Clinton among younger voters.
Both Sanders and Clinton also made an aggressive play for Nevada's rural voters this cycle.
"We have the momentum and I believe that when Democrats assemble in Philadelphia in July at that convention, we are going to see the results of one of the great political upsets in the history of the United States", he said. That is a worrying result for Clinton, who has staked her campaign on the promise of winning minority voters.
The surveys were conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks by Edison Research as Republican voters left their polling places at 35 randomly selected sites in SC and as Democratic voters arrived at 25 randomly selected caucus sites in Nevada.
