20th Century Fox may have found the new director for 'Deadpool 2, ' a new report claims - and it's one half of the directorial duo behind acclaimed action movie 'John Wick'.
"Deadpool 2" is looking for a new director as Tim Miller has vacated the position on October 21.
According to Mashable, the studio is now eyeing John Wick co-helmer David Leitch to sit in the director's chair for the hotly anticipated Deadpool sequel starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With a Mouth.
Along with Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Miller was fundamental in getting the X-Men spin-off made, reportedly leaking the infamous test footage that got fans behind the project. The site reports that although other names are still up for consideration, Leitch is at the top of that list. Miller supposedly wanted to add more of a focus as he runs his own company, while Reynolds wanted to of course double down on the classic Deadpool humor. And John Wick, the Keanu Reeves 2014 cult hit, was extraordinarily popular with the genre crowd that is the foundation of Deadpool's fan base.
Magnus Martens has worked mostly in television, but his directorial credits include Agents of SHIELD, Power, 12 Monkeys, and the excellently reviewed Luke Cage.

An "individual familiar with the project" told TheWrap that active development on Deadpool 2 was already underway when the first film was in production.
Leitch became a second unit director on Ninja Assassin in 2009 and has since held that title on The Mechanic, Conan the Barbarian, In Time, The Wolverine, Anchorman 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jupiter Ascending, Jurassic World and Captain America: Civil War.
