The event, formerly known as the Northern Trust Open and the Los Angeles Open, will be played February 16-19 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and is now run by Woods' tournament-management company.
He announced Tuesday that he will play in the event from February 13-19 that benefits his foundation.
Woods has not played in the tournament since 2006, despite Riviera being just an hour from his hometown in Orange County. "This is where it all started for me", Woods said.
In March, the Tiger Woods Foundation, the PGA TOUR and Genesis announced a partnership under which TGR Live would manage the tournament at Riviera.
The invitational event feature a much-reduced field and no cut, providing Woods with an easy transition back to action.
