I'm just not sure what the Ducks can do differently on the road that they weren't able to do in either game at home.
"We were still in the game after that", said McDavid.
It's easy to forget that the Edmonton Oilers are, by and large, playoff newbies, because they dispatched the San Jose Sharks in Round 1 and took two games at the Anaheim Ducks in Round 2.
Talbot was stellar in Game 2 with 39 saves but the visitors got to him early, scoring on two of their first three shots.
"I was wondering a little bit, wondering what happened, but I thought I was fine", Silfverberg said.
NOTES: The U.S. national anthem got a unique rendition before the game when the microphone didn't work Canadian country singer Brett Kissel. We get a big goal early, which really helped, too. "We're looking for responses probably from three or four different guys and if we can get those, we'll be in good shape".
The Oilers, remember, looked like they were losing grip of their opening-round series with San Jose when they got destroyed 7-0 in Game 4.
The Ducks with their goal total matched a single-game franchise record set in 2015.
Game 3 is Sunday at Nashville, Tennessee. The Ducks also hit multiple posts in Game 2, but nothing could get by Talbot, who made most of his tough saves well before the final eight minutes.
"Ours is a good team that never gives up", Maroon said.
Perry once the elite scorer on Getzlaf's wing has struggled the last two years in the regular season to find the net, and those struggles have spilled out to the playoffs. "I don't think the opportunity for us is lost".
After steamrolling through the Calgary Flames in the first round, the Ducks quickly dropped their first two games of the postseason to fall into an 0-2 hole to Edmonton.
Maroon also understands the pressure the Ducks now face, having played five seasons in Anaheim. Perhaps that's why the Ducks' second straight loss at home barely caused a flicker of apparent concern in their calm dressing room.
Antoine Vermette had a promising opportunity on special teams in the first, where the Oilers managed three shots to the Ducks' 12, only for Oscar Klefbom to alertly use his stick to prevent Vermette from getting any power on a shot from the foot of the crease.
"The thing that we're doing properly is we're responding to adversity", Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said. When we're making mistakes, a lot of times we're cheating on the wrong side (of the puck).
But with all the momentum seemingly against the Oilers, a fortunate bounce put them back in front for good.
The German forward's empty-net goal capped a four-goal, third-period outburst for the Oilers.
Anaheim's top left winger scored on a breakaway just 25 seconds into the first period, beating goalie Cam Talbot over his left arm.
Anaheim gradually turned the period in its favor, but couldn't score.
Edmonton extended its lead to 2-0 on Maroon's power-play goal, his second of the playoffs, at 6:41 of the second period. There was no lifeline to Laurent Brossoit this time and Talbot took the brunt of the beating, stopping only 22 of 28 shots. He's up to 31 points (10 G, 21 A) in 30 playoff games over the past three seasons.
