The two fatalities, a man and woman who were both Japanese and in their 80s, were believed to have been infected before health checks and a February 5 quarantine began on the ship, Health Ministry official Masami Sakoi said.
In total there have been 17 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Australia, including the latest arrivals from the cruise ship.
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced Saturday afternoon that all the tests had shown negative for the virus.

Andrew Norton, a professor in tertiary education at the Australian National University, noted that the "long-term attractiveness" of Australia, compared with other popular overseas education destinations, would not necessarily be affected, though a drop in the intake of Chinese students led by the virus crisis in the short term could have a knock-on effect on the education businesses. "We also want to see all those worldwide students from China return once the travel advisory is lifted", he said.
"There is no doubt based on the evidence that this can be managed, but of course, we are in a highly political environment and we've got people's understandable anxieties to take into account".
All six who had displayed cold-like symptoms were separated from others on the flight.
