After its U.S. launch last November, Disney is now streaming in Ireland, Austria, Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. "As the streaming home for Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and National Geographic, Disney+ delivers high-quality, optimistic storytelling that fans expect from our brands, now available broadly, conveniently, and permanently on Disney+".
Though Disney Plus has now launched in the United Kingdom - with a whole host of TV shows and movies from the likes of Marvel, Star Wars and the Disney library - it doesn't have everything that the USA version of Disney+ does. "We humbly hope that this service can bring some much-needed moments of respite for families during these hard times".
Pricing for Disney+ has been confirmed at £5.99/€6.99 per month, or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription. Disney plans to launch the service in Belgium, Portugal, and the Nordics this Summer as well. Despite analysts' forecasts that predict Apple's own Apple TV+ video on-demand service could have some 95 million subscribers by 2028, the prospect of staying home for weeks or months on end due to the COVID-19 pandemic isn't enough of an incentive to make people subscribe to Apple's streaming service. The streaming platform will launch in France on April 7. Right now, you can enjoy The Mandalorian, The World According to Jeff Goldblum and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
More than 600 episodes of The Simpsons will also be available from launch day, alongside various animated classics and live action features.
