Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer responded to the death of former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Fox News, warning that "it's a reminder" to "take corona seriously" and wear a mask.
Mr Cain died in hospital in Atlanta and became one of the highest profile American victims of the virus.
Cain was hospitalized July 1, two days after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and less than two weeks after attending a Trump rally in Tulsa, OK, that drew thousands.
From 1996, when he left the pizza company, until 1999, Mr. Cain ran the National Restaurant Association, a once-sleepy trade group that he helped transform into a lobbying powerhouse.
Cain said he could not remember Bialek and denied sexually harassing anyone, but polls conducted in the weeks afterward showed his popularity slipping considerably.
He first ventured into national politics in 1994 when he publicly challenged President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, on his proposal to force employers to buy health insurance for their employees.
"We were relieved to be told that, and passed on the news via Herman's social media".
Cain, who successfully steered food chains like Burger King and Godfather's Pizza to profitability and served as chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, shot to prominence in 2012 when he launched a bid to be the Republican presidential nominee.
"People who oppose Obama are said to be racists - so I guess I'm a racist", Cain once said. Cain received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his graduate degree from Perdue University, and worked as a ballistic analyst for the U.S. Department of the Navy.
"If 10% is good enough for God, 9% ought to be good enough for the federal government", Cain said, refering to the tithe sometimes paid as a contribution to a religious organization. Kemp would say later that Cain has the "voice of Othello, the looks of a football player, the English of Oxfordian quality, and the courage of a lion".
He continued to appear at political conferences and in the conservative news media long after his campaign ended. "St. Peter will soon hear '999!' Keep up the fight, my friend". He is survived by his wife, Gloria, and their two children, Melanie and Vincent, and grandchildren.
