In what was seen as a temporary setback for millions of users of Google services worldwide, Google today experienced service disruptions which affected several of its premium products and services in different parts of the world.
Google online services today (December 14) suffered distruption. The authentication system issue was resolved at 4:32AM PT.
All of Google's main services appeared to be affected including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, and YouTube. All services are now restored. "We apologize to everyone affected, and we will conduct a thorough follow up review to ensure this problem can not recur in the future". The remaining issue that was reported was log-in problems encountered by users within the specified two-hour time frame.
The outage also made Google Classroom temporarily unavailable, preventing many students learning remotely from accessing their classes.
Another stated: "The issue was with the gmail servers which lead to outage of other google services like YouTube", and said, "Doc etc Reports says that people where able to access both of these services when they where on the incognito mode".
"When all our @Google Drive & inventory management integrations disappeared suddenly during an early morning work session & @_ColleenFlynn lost a few years off her life", BoxxedUp lamented on Twitter.
"We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support", Google said in a statement. Updates will be posted on the status dashboard, Google Workspace said in a tweet.
