Damn, can she just be HAPPY?!
Gotta blame it on her juice.
Amid quarantine, the vocalist has been focused on slowing down and self-care.
Many criticised her for promoting an unhealthy diet, branding her irresponsible and pointing out how harmful a smoothie diet can be in the long-term. Much of her diet included smoothies and massive salads.
But Lizzo isn't doing a 30-day smoothie diet.
In addition to drinking shakes, the Because I Love You singer showed off a massive jug of "beauty water" chilling in the fridge.
Lizzo responded to backlash after revealing she went on a 10-day juice cleanse. "Cleanses and detoxes are scams, this is actually really disappointing to see", someone commented. "You drink these green smoothies every day", she says, noting that days four, five, and six were the "hardest". "Detoxes don't work and they definitely do not promote body positivity", yet another upset fan wrote. She quickly put her haters in their place.
On Instagram stories, Lizzo had shared details of her detox diet that she undertook under vigilance of a nutritionist. Instead, she wanted to get back on her plant-based diet and break some stressful eating habits that she had developed in the past month. And I just have to know that tomorrow how I feel in here [she pointed to her head] is gonna change.
In the video, Lizzo is heard saying, "So I drank a lot and I ate a lot of foods and I f***ed my stomach up in Mexico. And I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was", Lizzo continued.
'Normally I would have some positive thing to say to get me out of this, but I don't, and that's OK too, ' she said. I'm proud of my results. "I'm so proud of myself, I'm proud of my results, my sleep has improved, my hydration, my inner peace, my mental stability, my f-kin' body, my f-kin' skin, the whites of my eyes".
"I feel and look like a bad b**** - and that's it", she added. "I feel unbelievable and I think it's great to re-set your stomach ... especially when you deal with gastrointestinal issues like I do but I think I look f-king great too, so, period".
She finished with a simply but powerful statement: "every big girl should do whatever the fuck they want with their bodies". And while we know that celebrities' actions will undoubtedly have an influence on their fans, we can not always hold them responsible for other people's choices.
