Making a rare TV appearance on Jimmy Kimmel last night in the US, Taylor assured the chat show host that what fans are seeing is actually a "mistake" and not a precursor to a third LP. Acknowledging her birthday on social media on Sunday, Swift gave fans another surprise: a new remix of her single, Willow, which was just released together with Evermore last Friday.
"It's very annoying but it's fun for fans and it's fun for me, because they like to pick up on things, and they'll notice lots of things in music videos or whatever".
According to Swift, when she was recording folklore, she didn't want to tell anyone - not even her team or management - what the album was going to be called until right before it was released. Taylor Swift insisted that the easter egg was actually a mistake and that "Woodvale" was a code name for folklore in order to keep the project a secret.
"And sometimes I take it too far and I make a mistake". Since this is the world of Swift, where everything means something, fans took it as a subtle clue, believing it to be one of her many little easter eggs.
Swift added that her ninth studio album, "Evermore," also had a codename of "November", but they took it off all of the mockups.
Swift's long-time friend, model Gigi Hadid, posted on Instagram Story a picture of them in pyjamas, captioned: "Happiest 31st year, my T!" This, the account suspected, could be the name of an upcoming album. But we remembered to take it off all the mock ups of the album covers before we released them this time.
"We learned our lesson", the singer said. Swift praised collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National who worked on both albums.
"Jimmy, I'm so exhausted", the "Cardigan" singer said.
